In Rawlins, city council is cleaning up municipal codes related to criminal offenses that can land a person in jail.

The reason: Penalties in the municipal code for some violations, like DUI, also are covered under state laws. Other violations are not addressed by the state, and city attorney Amy Bach said those penalties will stay on the books.
