Following the renovation of the first floor of the Carbon Building, one of the county’s Sixth Penny Specific Purpose Tax projects, the Rawlins Library Branch is hosting a grand reopening and book signing event with author CJ Box. The community is invited to stop by this Friday to check out the new space, along with the new offices for Carbon County Public Health, which are also located on the first floor. Carbon County Library System Executive Director Jacob Mickelsen, Public Health Nurse Manager Amanda Brown, and the county commissioners will give brief talks as part of the event. The drop-in style open house takes place this Friday, August 13th from 4 to 6 p.m. at 215 W. Buffalo Street in Rawlins. Light refreshments will be available.

Construction on the second floor of the Carbon Building is now underway. The second floor is set to house most of the county’s administrative offices, including the county clerk, treasurer, and assessor as well as a meeting room and work space to be utilized by the Board of Carbon County Commissioners. The county’s planning and zoning offices will be located on the third floor of the carbon building, along with leasable office space and suites. Photo by Cali O'Hare/Bigfoot 99.
