The City of Rawlins plans to sell up to 10 million gallons of water per year for industrial and construction work over next two years. Up to 5 million gallons are already earmarked for WYDOT.

The city needed permission from the state to use North Platte River water from near Fort Steele for purposes other than municipal water supply, but the city isn’t required to pump and sell every one of the 10 million gallons.

Cali O’Hare has more legal and engineering details, and why Rawlins residents shouldn’t expect any water shortage or strain on city infrastructure.
