Earth Day 2026 will be observed on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, marking the 56th anniversary of the first Earth Day. A Saratoga resident is organizing a town‑wide community cleanup day.

During the April 1st Saratoga Town Council meeting, Mayor Chuck Davis announced that resident Jamie Messina had submitted a special event permit for the council to review. Messina explained that she would like to host an Earth Day cleanup event at Kathy Glode Park.

Mayor Davis asked Police Chief John Moore and Public Works Director Emery Penner if they had any objections to the cleanup event. Both officials reported that they did not and the mayor added that he supported the effort.

The Town Council unanimously voted to approve Messina’s special event permit. Shortly afterward, the Saratoga resident created a Facebook post to promote the cleanup.

Saratoga’s Earth Day Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, April 18th, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Participants are asked to gather at Kathy Glode Park on South River Street, where they will receive trash‑collection supplies. Afterward, residents are invited back to the park for a family‑friendly community gathering with food trucks, a bounce house, pony rides, and free snacks. A link to the event’s Facebook page will be included in this story.
