The Saratoga Town Council approved the request for an increase in gym membership prices.

During the May 6th Saratoga Town Council meeting, Recreation Director Carter Edwards outlined a new fee schedule for Platte Valley Community Center gym memberships.

Under the proposed plan, a single one‑star membership, which allows unsupervised use of the gymnasium and sporting equipment, would rise from $10 a month to $36. A single annual membership would increase from $50 to $180.

Two‑star memberships also allow access to the Platte Valley Community Center gym, along with a choice of fitness classes or the weight room. Annual single‑member rates would go from $250 to $360.

Rec Director Edwards acknowledged the increases may be surprising but said the rates have not changed in many years.

A single annual pass at the Rawlins Family Recreation Center costs $276. An adult yearly membership at the Valley Community Center in Baggs is $100.

Edwards said the Saratoga Recreation Commission compared the town’s rates with those at the other facilities and found the proposed fees reasonable. He added that, given the commission’s recent upgrades to local recreation programs, he supports the increases.

The recreation department recently purchased new weight room equipment and a zip line for the town’s outdoor pool.

Members of the Recreation Commission said the proposed rates were fair and reflected the quality of services offered by the town.

Mayor Chuck Davis said he agreed with the rate increases and asked the governing body if they needed more time to review the proposed fees.

Instead of delaying a vote, the Saratoga Town Council unanimously approved the rate increases. The new prices will go into effect on July 1st.
