No one is more aware of the skunk problem in Rawlins than the Animal Control Officers working at the local shelter.

The two ACO’s have trapped and dispatched just shy of four dozen skunks since the start of May, and they’ve been sprayed by many of them. Despite their valiant efforts, numerous Rawlins residents – and their dogs – continue to complain about the ongoing stinky situation.

Bigfoot 99’s Cali O’Hare sat down with RPD Lt. Daria Hooper, who oversees the animal shelter, to get the funk on skunks. Here’s her report.

The Rawlins Rochelle Animal Shelter offers free skunk traps with a $40 refundable deposit. Once the skunk is trapped, our Animal Control officers will take over. Please call 328-4530 or stop by the shelter during shelter hours 3:00 to 5:30 Monday – Friday to inquire about renting a skunk trap.
