Clinic operator discusses lease options

Last month, Saratoga Mayor John Zeiger brought Memorial Hospital of Carbon County to a town council meeting to discuss what medical services they could offer the Platte Valley if the town terminated the lease for the clinic with the current operator, Health Management Services.

Last night, HMS appeared before the Healthcare Sustainability Project and discussed options for renegotiation with the town while they continue exploring whether a critical access hospital is feasible in the valley.

In this still taken from listener-submitted footage of Sunday’s chase, Abyeta’s Chevy Trailblazer is seen traveling at speeds of 55 miles per hour in the posted 30 mph zone at Colorado and Walnut Streets. Behind it, a trail of smoke from several blown tires is illuminated by the glow of police lights. Deputies from the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office were joined by officers from the Rawlins Police Department and troopers from the Wyoming Highway Patrol, which spiked the SUV’s tires three times during the nearly hour long chase.

High speed chase suspect arraigned

The Rawlins woman who led sheriff’s deputies, police and even highway patrol troopers on a high speed chase through the city Sunday night made her first appearance on the charges before a judge Wednesday.

Jenny Marie Abeyta appeared via a video monitor while her mother and oldest son watched through a security window at the jail.

Abeyta faces two felony and three misdemeanor charges. She’s being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond. Cali O’Hare has the story.

Riverside accidental shooting update

About a year ago two Riverside men were arrested and charged with two counts each of involuntary attempted manslaughter after target shooting outside a residential area.

Stray bullets rang into the nearby neighborhood. One struck and injured a young mother, who is still recuperating from her injuries.

One of the accused men’s defense attorneys is using a recent Wyoming Supreme Court ruling that says a person cannot attempt to commit a crime involuntarily. Emma Diercks dug into the legal argument that prevailed in a case out of Converse County last year.
