Saratoga continues to iron out financial issues
In Saratoga, a two-hour workshop focused on the town’s finances addressed concerns raised last week by a councilman over the way enterprise funds have been used to cover a negative fund in the general budget over the last five years.
By state law, towns cannot operate in the red. Accountants worked with council members and stakeholders, such as the chairman of the landfill board, to identify problems and find remedies.

Rawlins PD operating shorthanded
Rawlins City Council held a special workshop this week focusing on the struggle of the police department to recruit and retain quality officers.
As part of the presentation, police officials provided facts and figures related to department workload and wages as compared to other departments in Wyoming.

Committee members wanted for land management board
The Carbon County Commissioners are looking for people to serve on a committee to establish a Natural Resource Management Plan.
The governing body is planning on developing a seven member board to focus on local management of public lands throughout Carbon County. Emma Diercks reports.
State basketball tournament canceled due to COVID-19 concerns
The Wyoming state high school basketball tournament has been canceled due to concerns over the new coronavirus, COVID-19.
Public health officials announced previously that the tournament would simply be closed to fans and spectators. Officials have since announced that the entire tournament has been canceled.
The Rawlins boys and girls basketball teams were set to compete as #1 and #2 seeds respectively as the WHSAA State High School 3A/4A Basketball Tournament would have tipped off today in Casper.
