Fair board gets approval for horse barn

Members of the fair board met again with county commissioners to discuss building a horse barn at the fairgrounds in Rawlins.

The two big questions: How does the horse barn fit into the master plan for the fairgrounds, and how could grant money offset the big price tag?

Ultimately, commissioners gave the fair board the OK to proceed on both the construction of the barn, and the submission of grants. Cali O’Hare reports.

RPD applying for highway safety grant

The Rawlins Police Department has historically applied for and been awarded a highway safety grant which pays for additional police enforcement efforts.

Last week, the city’s chief of police approached the governing body to request authorization of the submission of the 2021 grant.

Nonprofit offers financial assistance to Carbon County

A Cheyenne-based nonprofit is offering financial help for those short on money to pay for rent or medical care. Government offices throughout the county have applications for the assistance available. Emma Diercks has more.
