MHCC prepped for arrival of coronavirus as concern spreads

Despite a scare that some state lawmakers were exposed to the COVID-19 virus during a recent to visit to Washington, D.C., Wyoming is still not reporting any confirmed cases of coronavirus. Neighboring states are.

Colorado, Nebraska and Utah are confirming positive tests for the novel flu that is sweeping the globe. Health officials in Wyoming and Carbon County have said it’s not a matter of if, but when the virus arrives.

Bigfoot 99’s Cali O’Hare sat down with the infection prevention specialist at Memorial Hospital of Carbon County in Rawlins to find out how the critical access facility is prepping for the inevitable.

New tool allows Carbon County residents to calculate self-sufficiency

A Wyoming non-profit recently released a report that demonstrates what wages people need to earn to be considered “self-sufficient.”

The report includes data on housing, child care, food and taxes. Carbon County residents can input their own costs into a calculator to analyze their expenses and wages. Emma Diercks has the story.

Animal cruelty suspect walks free as judge lowers bond

The first of two Louisiana women charged with animal cruelty was arraigned in Carbon County District Court yesterday.

Jennifer Stracener pleaded not guilty, and together with her public defender, convinced the court to modify her bond, making it more attainable.

Cali O’Hare was inside the courtroom and filed this update.
