Saratoga studies well as part of updated master plan

The Town of Saratoga is having one of the five wells in its water system elevated as part of an ongoing study. The wells are located southeast of town.

The municipal water supply is pumped through a 3.5 mile-long specialized cast iron pipeline to the main distribution center located on Pic Pike Road. Emma Diercks reports that a full study on the water system is expected to be completed by July.

 

 

Missouri man killed in highway crash near Rawlins

A truck driver from Missouri was killed in a multi-vehicle collision last Wednesday in blizzard conditions east of Rawlins. Cali O’Hare reports that the trucker was killed as the highway patrol was investigating an earlier crash at the scene.

 

 

Savery museum will showcase Carbon County’s sheep industry

The Little Snake River Museum in Savery is preparing to showcase the county’s sheep industry with a new exhibit hall to be built this summer. A donation from Saratoga will be featured in the hall once the project is completed. Emma Diercks reports.

 

 

Forecast shows moderate flooding potential for Platte Valley

The latest outlook for flooding this spring shows a moderate potential along the North Platte River in Saratoga and along the lower portions of the Laramie Watershed in Laramie. State Hydrologist James Fahey released his latest forecast for spring flooding yesterday.

The outlook is based on an evaluation of multiple factors, including snow pack levels at higher and lower elevations, water content of the snow, soil composition, as well as temperature and precipitation trends in late spring and early summer.

In Fahey’s latest monthly outlook, Riverside and Saratoga show a 40 to 50 percent chance of some of flooding this year.

 

RHS hosts inaugural Best Buddies Friendship Walk

The group of students from Rawlins who hosted the state’s inaugural Best Buddies Friendship Walk far surpassed their fundraising and participation goals, thanks to the support of area residents and businesses. Cali O’Hare was at the 2019 Friendship Walk and filed this report.
