316 Fire update as of September 6th, 2020 9 a.m.

The “316” wildfire near Hanna is burning at more than 10,000 acres as of this morning, Sunday, September 6th. No control or containment numbers were available to report at this time.

All residents of the town were evacuated yesterday under full, mandatory evacuations issued by Carbon County Emergency Management. Roughly 67 families, 200 individuals and 100 small pets (birds, dogs and cats) were put up by the American Red Cross at 7 Laramie hotels. The agency is covering the cost of those accommodations, and has also provided the residents of Hanna with breakfast. A brown bag lunch will also be provided.

The good news is that the 316 Fire was stopped before entering the town limits. Carbon County EMC Lenny Layman told Bigfoot 99 early this morning, “things are looking good for the Town of Hanna.”

No structures within the town were damaged, and crews are performing an initial assessment at the town’s water treatment plant. It may be salvageable.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The energy, gas and power companies are working diligently this morning to restore utilities to all homes and businesses in Hanna.

The Town of Hanna remains under evacuation orders. WY HWY 72 is closed from I-80 to the Town of Hanna.

Bigfoot 99 is in close contact with the EMC and Incident Commander and will provide details regarding re-entry of residents into the town as soon as that information becomes available.
