A semi-trailer with Wyoming license plates hauling almost 100 head of cattle overturned south of Craig, Colorado on Friday.

Colorado Highway 13 south of Craig was closed temporarily as emergency personnel worked to clear the rollover crash.

A report in the Craig Daily Press said the unnamed driver was hauling 93 steers and heifers, was uninjured. The livestock were not as lucky with 12 killed in the crash. Another nine had to be euthanized at the scene, according to the Moffatt County Sheriff’s Office.

The remaining cattle were examined on-site by a veterinarian before being transported from the scene. The Colorado State Patrol reported that officials remained at the scene of the crash Friday night searching for any remaining loose cattle.

Colorado Patrol is investigating the crash.
