ATV and UTV owners are invited to participate in a mini tractor pull in Saratoga next month.
On July 22nd and 23rd, at the Whistle Pig Complex in Saratoga, Dan Jones is helping to put on the area’s first ever ATV pull. Jones, the event organizer, explained that quads and side by sides will pull a weighted sled, similar to how a full-size tractor pull works.
Contestants will take turns pulling the 4,300-pound sled down a specially prepared 220-foot-long dirt track. Jones said he’s been preparing the track surface for nearly a month.
Jones said the competition will be divided into several different classes. He said each participant will compete against vehicles of the same type and power as their machine. The event organizer said he wants to offer a new entertaining event for the valley.
Jones said the entry fee is $60. He said each competitor will have three opportunities to set the farthest distance for their respective class. Jones described how the prize money will be distributed.
Jones said the event is designed to raise money for Wyoming Honor Flights. Started in 2009, Wyoming Honor Flights is a non-profit organization that flies veterans to Washington D.C. to visit the federal memorials built in their honor. According to their website, Wyoming Honor Flights has flown more than 600 veterans to our nation’s capital. Jones said he often visits the war memorials in D.C. He said the more people who attend the ATV pull, the more money he will raise for this good cause.
Jones said he attempted to host an ATV pull earlier this month, but not enough competitors registered for the event. He said he would like to make this a yearly tradition. Jones said he doesn’t know of any other events of this style in the area.
The Snowy Range ATV Pull will be July 22nd and 23rd at the Whistle Pig Complex at 2000 South Highway 130, in Saratoga. Call Dan Jones at 307-321-3478 with any questions or for more info.
