Two Rawlins businesses are teaming up to raise money to help pay for people’s medical expenses.

On Saturday, December 30th, The Keg Saloon and the 19th Hole Restaurant at Rochelle Ranch Golf Course will host a charity wing eating contest to benefit T’ Keg for the Cure.

Every year, Mark and Diane Kulmus, owners of The Keg Saloon in Rawlins, hold a charity event to raise money. Diane Kulmus said for over 15 years, T’ Keg for the Cure has helped Carbon County residents pay for unexpected healthcare costs.

Kulmus has teamed up with Win Haymond, owner of the 19th Hole Restaurant to hold a T’ Keg for the Cure benefit next weekend. Haymond said it was his idea to have a charity wing eating contest during the Wyoming Toledo Arizona Bowl game. Haymond said the owners of The Keg supported his plan.

Haymond said the wing eating contest will take place during halftime of the Arizona Bowl. Haymond said the person who eats their 20 wings the fastest will be the winner.

Haymond said he is hoping for a good turnout for the December 30th event. The 19th Hole Restaurant owner said prize money will depend on the number of contestants.

Haymond said the event came together too quickly for him to secure any sponsorships. The 19th Hole Restaurant owner said he welcomes anyone interested in sponsoring the wing eating contest.

Kulmus said in 2023, T’ Keg for the Cure gave nearly $10,000 to Carbon County residents to help with medical expenses. Kulmus said family tragedies compel her to continue helping people.

Kulmus said all money raised through T’ Keg for the Cure stays in Carbon County.

The T’ Keg Wing Eating Contest is next Saturday, December 30th at The Keg Saloon in Rawlins. Entry is $20 a person.
