WYDOT will close two roads in Carbon County this week.

Starting today, the Wyoming Department of Transportation will begin shutting down access to Interstate 80 between Walcott Junction and Fort Steele intermittently while Rocky Mountain Power crews perform utility work. Andrea Staley with WYDOT said Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers will guide drivers through the construction zone while power company helicopters are flying over the road.

Staley said the I-80 on ramps at Walcott Junction and Fort Steele will be closed while Rocky Mountain Power helicopters are in the air. The WYDOT public relations specialist said to expect occasional delays over the next three days.

Staley said the ramps will only be closed for several minutes at a time while helicopters conduct the utility power line operation.

Tomorrow, WYDOT will close Highway 76 in Sinclair for railroad track repairs. Staley said crews with Great Basin Industrial require the road, also known as Lincoln Avenue, to be completely shut down while they repair the siding.

Staley said drivers will need to use I-80 to access either side of Highway 76. The WYDOT public relations specialist said Great Basin Industrial is expecting the job to be finished by the middle of this month.

Staley said all dates and times are subject to change because of weather and equipment availability. The WYDOT public relations specialist said to anticipate the delays and adjust your travel plans accordingly.
