By Thursday afternoon of this week, more than two dozen state governors, including Wyoming’s Mark Gordon, expressed support for Texas in asserting a constitutional right to defend its southern border from unprecedented illegal border crossings that Joe Biden’s White House has supported.
Governor Mark Gordon of Wyoming, who has toured the troubled southern border, issued a written statement Thursday afternoon saying that Texas has a constitutional right to defend and protect itself. In the statement, Governor Gordon said, “Secure borders prevent criminals and deadly drugs like fentanyl from entering our country and making their way to Wyoming. Wyoming stands in solidarity with Governor Abbott and the State of Texas in utilizing every tool and strategy to secure the border and protect American citizens. We are all border states now.”
Texas Governor Greg Abbott told Fox News on Thursday that his state has a Constitutional right to self-defense if the federal government fails in its duties.
The Texas governor said the White House has neglected to uphold Article IV, Section 4, Clause 2, of the United States Constitution, which notes the federal government “shall protect each [State] against invasion.”
By Thursday afternoon, more than two dozen governors had expressed their support of Texas against the Biden White House and its handling of the foreign invasion across the American southwest.
In a joint letter, the 26 governors signed a statement saying, “President Biden and his Administration have left Americans and our country completely vulnerable to unprecedented illegal immigration pouring across the Southern border. Instead of upholding the rule of law and securing the border, the Biden Administration has attacked and sued Texas for stepping up to protect American citizens from historic levels of illegal immigrants, deadly drugs like fentanyl, and terrorists entering our country.”
Wyoming Governor Gordon’s tweet on Thursday includes a photograph of him wearing a bulletproof vest while standing next to a 50-caliber rifle installation on a river patrol boat.
Criminal cartels, with help from the United Nations and others, control the flow of illegals, whose numbers surpass 8-million people since Joe Biden took over the White House. Massive amounts of dangerous drugs and sex traffickers accompany the flow of illegal immigrants in our country.
The standoff comes as the Biden administration is fighting to stop Texas from securing its borders against the flow of people and contraband. In their joint letter Thursday, the governors said that the U.S. Constitution clearly says that states have a right of self-defense and that since the Biden administration has “abdicated its constitutional compact duties to the states, Texas has every legal justification to protect the sovereignty of our states and our nation.” The only Republican governor in the country not to cosign the statement was Vermont’s Phil Scott.
Meanwhile, in Congress, Republican lawmakers are now pushing to ban the feds from removing razor wire border barriers after the Supreme Court ruled against Texas from defending itself earlier this week—a ruling that triggered Gov. Abbott’s rebellion against Washington, D.C.
