The Wyoming Highway Patrol is asking residents to support its cruiser design in a nationwide competition.
In 2014, the American Association of State Troopers launched the Best Looking Cruiser Contest. The annual competition asks the public to vote for their state’s police car design. The cruiser with the most votes earns the cover spot on the following year’s American Association of State Troopers calendar. Proceeds from calendar sales support the American Association of State Troopers Foundation, which provides educational scholarships to the children of police officers.
The Florida Highway Patrol won the 2025 American Association of State Troopers Best Looking Cruiser contest with a photo of its black‑and‑tan Chevrolet Corvette C8 patrol unit. The vehicle was seized from a convicted drug trafficker during a joint Florida Highway Patrol and Drug Enforcement Agency investigation. The victory marked the third consecutive year Florida won the contest, making it the first state agency in the competition’s history to achieve three straight wins.
In 2022, the Georgia State Patrol won the Best Looking Cruiser Contest with a blue and gold design featuring the state seal on the door. The previous year, the Kentucky State Police was chosen for its gray cruiser featuring a blue stripe on the side.
For the 2026 Best Looking Cruiser Contest, the Wyoming Highway Patrol is asking residents to vote for its design, a dark‑colored Chevy Silverado pickup with the department’s logo on the side. This year’s submission photograph was taken near Weston Hills Recreation Area north of Gillette.
In a social media post for the 2023 competition, the Wyoming Highway Patrol wrote that the contest is not only a fun way to showcase the state’s cruisers, but also an opportunity for the community to show its support and appreciation for the department. The agency added that voting helps create a positive way to recognize law enforcement and foster community pride.
As of July 3rd, the Wyoming Highway Patrol was in 42nd place with 765 votes. Michigan leads with more than 17,000 votes, followed by Georgia with more than 13,000.
