In Washington, D.C., Wyoming Senator John Barrasso labeled Joe Biden’s mandate for electric-vehicles on American consumers “left-wing lunacy.”
Senator Barrasso said the new EV mandate announced last week by the White House is the latest Democratic attack on freedom, consumer choice, American jobs and energy security.
The Biden Administration announced that it’s going to put stringent new limits on gas-powered cars.
Wyoming’s senior senator said the Biden plan is delusional and that Americans will reject the president’s unwelcome intrusions into our lives. The senator called the president’s push to force Wyoming drivers into expensive EV’s is a ridiculous abuse of power.
Under the rule, 56 percent of the new vehicles on the market in 2032 could be battery electric, while an additional 13 percent could be plug-in hybrids. Under this scenario, just 29 percent of cars would be gas-powered, while an additional 3 percent would be other hybrids.
Only 16 percent of new vehicle sales were electric and hybrid cars last year.
The rule also regulates medium-duty vehicles, including vans and pickup trucks.
