You can be certain that the CSU defensive unit has been studying how their Boise State counterparts disrupted Wyoming quarterback Andrew Peasley and the Wyoming offense last week. The Broncos stifled Wyoming and sucker punched the Cowboys with a 32-7 win.

Here’s how Broncos Defensive Coordinator Spencer Danielson saw the game from is vantage point last week.

Boise State put a stranglehold on the Wyoming run game. The Cowboys had 27 yards rushing on the night. Through the air, Wyoming gained 85 yards. It’s a recipe that CSU will be studying. Wyoming Head Coach Craig Bohl knows his offense was exposed.

The grind to get ready for the Rams started on Sunday. Coach Bohl said despite the loss to Boise, his squad came out of the matchup relatively healthy. The biggest bruises were to the egos of his players.

The Cowboy defense will pit themselves against CSU freshman quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolos who relies on the aerial attack to move the Rams downfield. He has no fear of going deep. He may be work in progress.  CSU is 3-and-5 on the season. The Rams quarterback is a threat, though. The Texas native has thrown for 2,476 passing yards with 16 passing touchdowns. Last week, he threw for 297 yards and one score.

Except for the breakdown last week, Wyoming is solid on defense. Here’s how Coach Bohl saw the game plan early this week.

The Cowboys will need to make explosive plays of their own.

This year’s Border War will belong to the team that can overcome back-to-back conference losses. Of course, it’s the Border War and records don’t matter. It’s the rivalry that counts.

The 115th Edition of the Border War game between the two rivals kicks off Friday at 6 p.m.
