In sports, Niko Medved is staying at Colorado State University with a new contract and a big raise.

CSU announced an extension for the men’s basketball coach Monday afternoon.

The deal runs through 2028-29 with options for additional years in 2029-30 and 2030-31. The contract calls for a salary of $1.7 million in 2024-25, rising to $2 million for the 2030-31 option. Medved made $1.1 million this past season.

It brings him close to even with CSU football coach Jay Norvell as one of the highest paid employees at CSU. Norvell is set to make $1.8 million for the 2024 season.

Wyoming split with CSU this past season, winning 79-76 in overtime on January 27.

The Cowboys lost in Fort Collins 70-62 on March 2nd.
