The Cowboy basketball team will look different next year. It’s portal time and several players look to take their skills elsewhere with others staying in Laramie.
Guard Damarion Dennis is entering the transfer portal. Dennis began his career playing his freshman season at Texas A&M Corpus Christi before spending sophomore year at Wyoming. The sophomore averaged 11.2PPG, 3.2RPG and 1.3APG during his single season. From San Antonio, Texas, the 6-1 Dennis has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Also entering the portal is guard Adam Harakow. The 6-7 junior netted just four points in Wyoming’s opening round loss to UNLV in the Mountain West Tournament. Two of his points came at the free-throw line. 7220 sports quoted Head Coach Sundance Wicks saying Harakow has “a crazy competitive streak, but he’s spacey sometimes.”
Staying in Laramie is Uriah Rojas. The 6-3 junior from Rancho Cucamonga, California, averaged 6.2 points and nearly two assists from the point-guard position last season. Appearing in all 33 games, Rojas reached double figures in scoring six times, including a 23-point outing in a 79-65 home win over Austin Peay.
Naz Meyer also will return to Laramie next year. A key player as a freshman, the 6-7 Meyer earned Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Week honors multiple times, including a career-high 26 points against South Dakota and a 22-point performance against Fresno State. Meyer is from Los Angeles. The former three-star recruit who attended New Hampton Prep, is praised for his versatility as a “Swiss Army knife” defender and playmaker.
Wyoming also will add 6-6, 210-pound forward Michael Mora to the roster via the NCAA Transfer Portal, the sophomore announced on Monday. The Cowboys will also welcome incoming freshmen Madden Smiley from Windsor, Colorado, and Chris Pohl from Marshfield, Wisconsin into the fold this summer.
