In sports, Craig Bohl and his coaching staff walked through the tape of Saturday’s win over Portland State with the team yesterday.

Despite the 31-17 win, Coach Bohl expressed concern about the lack of sharpness his team showed at times on offense and defense. The Cowboys are headed to Austin this week as 27-point underdogs to take on the #1 team in college football, the Longhorns. The head coach said he’s not necessarily going to be angry about what he saw from his players against an FBC opponent on Saturday. He’s going to be looking for players to explain their actions on individual plays.

Quarterback Andrew Peasley went 11 of 16 Saturday with one pick. He also threw for three touchdowns. Jamari Ferrel ran for another. The Cowboys put up 201 yards through the air and rushed for another 170 for 371 yards, about 30 more than PSU.

The Cowboy offense drew three penalties for 24 yards.

They’ll face a Longhorn team this week that roared back to life with 21 points in the fourth quarter for a 34-24 road win over Alabama. Texas Oddsmakers have Texas pegged as a 28.5 point favorite at home in at Derrell K. Royal Stadium–“DKR” as it is called in Austin. Longhorn head coach Steve Sarkisian said he clicked through a laundry list of items that his team needs to work on this week to be ready.

Head coach Craig Bohl had a piece of advice for sportswriters and fans who are headed to the game this week.

If you do break the coach’s rules and enjoy a side trip to one of the most colorful hot spots in the USA, 6th street is great for catching the local bands—old and new– that are loaded with talent, watching people from a variety of patio perches, sampling great Mexican food and talking football with Longhorn fans.

Bigfoot 99 will have all the excitement for you starting with the pregame show at 4:30. Kickoff at six.
