The Wyoming Cowboys put an exclamation point on their regular season with a 42-6 road win over Nevada. All that’s left is a bowl invite after finishing the season 8-and-4 overall, 5-3 in conference play.

Cowboy quarterback Andrew Peasley entered the game averaging 14-points scored per game, he was ranked the Number-one quarterback in the Mountain West Conference and Number-32 in the nation. The tough and gritty Peasley did not let up in Reno.

Keith Kelly had the call on the Cowboy Sports Network. Earlier in the game, Number Six ran for a 43-yard touchdown as he logged another strong performance. On the night, Peasley carried the ball for 96 yards and two rushing touchdowns. He went 12-of-18 passing with two touchdown throws. On the year, Peasley chalked up 22 passing touchdowns and 9 rushing TDs.

The defense added to the scoring Saturday night. Wyoming free safety Wyatt Eckler scored in the second quarter on a 38-yard pick six.

The Cowboys cap off a winning season with a win on the road, an accomplishment that had eluded them until the game.  Their previous seven wins had all been at home. For Coach Craig Bohl, this year is the first eight-win season since 2016, the fourth in his career at Wyoming. Coach Bohl talked about overcoming the road curse that has haunted his team this year.

The Wyoming defensive line played one of its best games of the season. Nevada gained 18-net rushing yards on the night. The Cowboys notched six sacks. Linebacker Easton Gibbs recorded five tackles, pushing his total to 106 on the season. With 359 career tackles total, the junior from California is ranked number-8 on the Wyoming career tackle list.

Coach Bohl said the win was one of the best team performances the Cowboy put together on both sides of the ball this year. The road win was a great bookend for a challenging season that included preseason Top 25 team Texas Tech and a road game at then No. 4 ranked Texas.

The Cowboys don’t know where they’ll be headed in the post-season yet. Bowl invites will be issued this coming Sunday.
