In sports, Wyoming Head Football Coach Craig Bohl made it clear Monday that the Cowboys are focused on the next opponent.

The CSU game went in the books as a big-time win. The Cowboys celebrated. Now it’s time to get ready for an even tougher opponent.

UNLV is up next Friday night. The Rebels stomped New Mexico 56-14 Saturday to stay competitive in the Mountain West race. On the road in Albuquerque, UNLV blew open an early 14-0 lead over the Lobos and extended the advantage to 35-7 at the half.  From there, the Rebels cruised to the finish against an overmatched New Mexico squad. The Las Vegas sports writers noted that Head Coach Barry Odom and his staff were studying the Cowboys on the plane ride back to Vegas.

During yesterday’s news conference in Laramie, Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl sized up this week’s opponent.

Coach Bohl said all of the players who were available for the Border War are healthy, and will be available Friday night.

Wyoming will need all hands-on deck. UNL Freshman quarterback Jayden Maiava passed for 247 yards on Saturday with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Five ball-carriers combined for 27 attempts without putting the ball on the ground.

The Wyoming Cowboys are 6-3 overall, 3-2 in league play. The Cowboys are sitting in the number 4 spot in the MoWest stands.  UNLV is number-3, one game behind Air Force, with a 7-2 overall record, 4-1 in league play.

Friday night’s game inside Allegiant Stadium promises to be another match-up between two Mountain West contenders. Kickoff is set for 8:45 here on Bigfoot 99.
