The Cowgirls shot 8-of-8 from the free throw line in the last minute of play Saturday afternoon to earn a hard-fought 59-52 win over Nevada inside the Double A.

The Wyoming bench made the difference, putting up a critical 20 points in the win. Nevada’s bench put up 13.

The Cowgirls looked sluggish in the first half against the heavy rotation of Nevada players. The Wyoming defense held up, forcing turnovers in the second half. When the Cowgirls finally got the lead, the veteran players closed out the win. Senior Ola Ustowska grabbed a steal and converted it into bucket to put Wyoming up by seven. Ustowska also hit the only Wyoming three of the game. The two plays sounded like this with David Settle on the call.

Wyoming Head Coach Heather Ezell said her team dug deep, overcame their slow start and found a way to win.

That’s all that counts. The Cowgirls got the stops they needed and are now 13-8 overall, 8-2 in conference play.

The Wyoming women will be back inside the Double A for a Wednesday night matchup against Utah State. Tip at 6:30 here on Bigfoot.
