The season came to an end for the Wyoming Cowboys inside the Round House in Wichita, Kansas, Tuesday night with a 74-70 loss to the Shockers in opening round NIT action.
A tough night shooting the ball doomed the Pokes. Down by four points at the half, the Pokes shot just 39 percent, going 25 of 65 overall. Their shooting percentage improved in the second half. They finished 10 of 28 from three-point range. The Cowboys went 10 of 20 from the free throw line.
The Shockers dominated on the boards going 55 to 34, including 17 to 9.
Wyoming had 11 steals in the game. Points off turnovers favored Wyoming, 20 to 8. Wichita State outscored Wyoming in the paint 44 to 30.
Wyoming freshman Naz Meyer got hot in the second half, especially from the arc, and finished with 16 points, including four three-pointers. Sophomore Demarion Dennis was the leading scorer for Wyoming with 17 points.
Down four at the half, The Pokes battled back in the second half but fell just short to finish the season 18-15 overall.

Wyoming finishes the season with a 18-15 overall record and made their first postseason appearance since 2021-22.
