The Wyoming Cowgirls rolled to a comfortable margin over Utah State in the first half, then rolled to an easy 62-47 home win Wednesday night inside the Arena Auditorium.
Ten points was as close as the Aggies got after the Cowgirls built a 24-point lead.
After building their lead, Wyoming just shot the ball just 28 percent in the second half after 48 percent in the opening two quarters. Alison Fertig led the Cowgirls with 13 points. Pederson put up ten. Emily Mellema, who put up nine, hit Wyoming’s first three-point shot of the night.
David Settle had the call inside the Double-A. In all the Cowgirls scored 21 points off 17 Utah State turnovers. 20 second-chance points helped UW salt the win away as Wyoming improves to 9-2 in conference play.
Head Coach Heather Ezell said her team got out of synch, but regained their focus to pick up the win.
The Cowgirls bench scored 19 points in the win and was led by Maren McKenna’s nine. Marta Savic provided seven points. USU’s reserves scored eight points on the night.
The Cowgirls will be back in action on Saturday at Boise State. Wyoming will be looking for a season sweep of the Broncos. The tip is set for 1 p.m. on Bigfoot 99. We’ll be on the air with the pregame show at 12:30.
