The Carbon County Courthouse is about to undergo the big makeover. Ahead of the transformation, several county offices will close to the public on December 13th and 14th to accommodate their transition to the 2nd floor of the newly named Carbon Building-Courthouse Annex.
The County Treasurer, Clerk, Assessor, and the Land Office will make their move on that Monday and Tuesday. The offices will reopen to the public on Wednesday, December 15th, at 215 West Buffalo Street. Then, beginning December 20th, the entire Carbon County Courthouse will be closed to the public for one year while the building is renovated.
The goal of the project is to create a modern and secure justice center housing the Circuit Court, the District Court, as well as offices of the County Attorney, Public Defender, Sheriff, DCI, Victim Witness, Probation and Parole.
The huge undertaking was made possible through the Sixth Penny Specific Purpose Tax, which voters approved in 2019.
Bigfoot 99 will have more on this story in the coming days. But remember on Monday and Tuesday, December 13th and 14th, the offices of the county treasurer, assessor, clerk and land office will be closed to the public and reopen at their new location December 15th. The entire courthouse will close for a year for a year beginning December 20th.
