Across the country and here in Wyoming, the cost of filling up at a gas station rose to new highs on Tuesday. Prices are even higher today, according to the latest data. AAA reports that the average price nationwide hit a new all-time record: $4.37 for a gallon of standard unleaded yesterday. The price was $4.40 this morning, a 26 percent increase over the last month.
In comparison, one year ago, the national gas price average stood at $2.967, but it has continued to skyrocket over the course of Biden’s presidency.
According to AAA, the average price at the pump in Carbon County–$4.36 a gallon—is among the highest in Wyoming. The statewide average is $4.23 a gallon. Jackson Hole is the highest at $4.53 a gallon. Albany, Campbell and Natrona Counties were reporting the lowest prices in the state yesterday, with averages falling between $3.99 in Gillette to $4.09 in Casper. Laramie was $4.05 a gallon, according to the AAA map.
Some states are worse than others. For instance, the average price in California Tuesday was $5.84 with many stations charging near $6 per gallon. The overall gas price average for diesel in California is over $1.00 more than the national average, standing at $6.512.
Missouri is reporting the lowest state average, coming in at $3.93 as of Tuesday.
Top Democrats in Washington, facing mid-term elections, seem to be in denial about the mood of the country. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told reporters last month that consumers blame oil companies not the domestic and foreign policies of the White House for the surge in gas prices.

The president yesterday again declined to take any responsibility for inflation hitting and breaking a 40-year high. Joe Biden told reporters that soaring prices are a problem and that they’ll likely go higher.
Biden’s job approval rating is underwater in 46 states, including California. The CIVIQS rolling average reports that only 21 percent of Wyoming voters approve, which is five percent lower than the 26.6 percent of his vote total here in 2020. Biden’s disapproval rating in Wyoming is 73 percent—higher than the 70 percent of votes Donald Trump received.
Biden’s highest approval ratings are in Hawaii, Massachusetts and Vermont.
