Rawlins PD investigating child injury reported last week

In Rawlins, Police Chief Mike Ward confirmed Friday that police and medical personnel responded to a call of an injured child last Thursday, September 1st. Chief Ward said the call came in Thursday afternoon.

Chief Ward would not confirm if the incident involved an accidental shooting. The child’s injuries were severe enough to require out-of-state treatment.

An investigation into the incident underway. The chief did not release many details, but said PD are leaning toward it being an accidental shooting.

Chief Ward said when more details are available and reports are written, he will make another statement.
