In Sports, Wyoming center Jack Walsh—a senior from Palentine, Illinois—was named to the Outland Trophy Preseason Watch List this week.

Walsh started 10 games for the Cowboys last year. He was named Second Team along the offensive line. Walsh recorded over 650 snaps during the season and did not allow a quarterback sack all year.

Pro Football Focus ranked him the No. 25 guard in the nation and fourth in the Mountain West.

This marks the third straight year that Wyoming has landed a player on the list with defensive tackle Jordan Bertagnole named the previous two seasons. Walsh is the first offensive lineman on the list since Keegan Cryder in 2021.

The recipient of the 2025 Outland Trophy will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards, aired on ESPN, on Friday, Dec. 12. The official trophy presentation to the winner will be made at the Outland Trophy Awards Dinner in January.

There are 16 offensive tackles and 15 guards on this year’s list to go with 10 defensive tackles and nine centers.

Meanwhile, the Cowboy football team wore helmets and shoulder pads on Wednesday during third practice heading into the fall season. The team ran through their drills on the grass practice fields of the North 40.

Wyoming Head Coach Jay Sawvel referred to the session as “a banger,” and described how the Pokes have had “three really good days” of practice.
