The town of Sinclair is preparing to celebrate its 100th anniversary. On Saturday, August 17th, the town of Sinclair will hold a centennial celebration.

Sinclair Community Events Director Monte Thayer said in 1923, Frank Kistler established the Producers and Refiners Corporation in the area. One year later, the town of Parco was founded.

Parco’s residential and public buildings were constructed in a Spanish Colonial style. Perhaps the town’s most iconic building, the Parco Inn, was built in 1925. Thayer said at the time of its opening, the hotel offered the latest amenities.

In 1942, the Parco refinery was purchased by the Sinclair Refining Company. Shortly thereafter, the name of the town was changed to Sinclair.

Thayer said the refinery has played a large role in the development of the town.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of Parco. Thayer said the town is having a huge celebration to mark its centennial on August 17th.

Thayer said famous painter and Sinclair native Joel Johnson will be the featured artist at an art show being held during the centennial event.

Thayer said a fireworks display will mark the end of festivities. The community events director invited everyone to attend the centennial event.

The 100th Sinclair anniversary will be on Saturday, August 17th. Bigfoot99 will have more information about the event as the centennial draws closer.
