Carbon County officials will receive new email addresses.

In August of last year, Bigfoot99 reported that the official county website was changing from carbonwy.com to carboncountywy.gov. At the time, IT Director Matt Webster said the domain name change would bring the county in line with other government entities around the country.

Changing the website domain name also includes changing the county’s email address. During the February 6th commissioners meeting, IT Director Webster asked the board for $7,300 to allow him to hire ANM, a Casper based IT consulting company, to help with the email transition.

Webster said ANM will ensure the county does not lose access to any emails during the transition. The IT director mentioned that the consulting firm is better equipped to troubleshoot any unforeseen issues than he and his team.

Commissioner John Espy asked Webster when the email transition will occur. The IT director said the new domain is expected to go into effect by spring. Webster said the county will still receive messages addressed to the old domain until the middle of next year.

The board voted to approve the $7,300 for ANM to help Webster with the county’s email domain name change.
