The deadline to provide feedback on the county’s Land Use Plan update has been delayed a month.

The public has been given until February 16th to take the Land Use Plan update survey and help shape the future of Carbon County.

Last June, Carbon County Planning and Development began the process of updating the county’s eleven-year-old land use map. An updated land use plan will allow county officials to better control how our area develops in the future.

Y2 Consultants out of Cheyenne were chosen to perform the Land Use Plan update. The engineering firm is asking for public input on how the county should handle future growth in the residential, industrial, and agricultural sectors.

Y2 Consultants created an online survey that asks residents a series of questions on how they would like to see the county grow. The survey was set to end on January 5th.

On January 17th, Y2 Consultants held a Land Use Plan update steering committee meeting to discuss the results of the survey. The meeting resulted in Y2 Consultants asking for more public feedback. The deadline to complete the survey has changed to February 16th.

According to a statement released by the engineering firm, the intent of the survey is to understand what the county’s priorities should be. Y2 Consultants said community input drives the overall development of the plan and is vital to its success.

Residents are asked to take the survey no later than February 16th. A link to the Land Use Plan update survey will be included with story when it is posted to the Bigfoot99 website later today.

Paper copies of the survey are available in the County Clerk’s Office, located at 215 West Buffalo Street, Suite 217, in Rawlins.
