The place to be Friday was the sale barn at the Carbon County Fair.

The annual Junior Livestock Sale turned into more than an auction. It was a love fest as the big heart of a tight-knit community was on display.

Emotion ran high, and so did the bidding. In a teary-eyed display of emotional support, bidders at generated over a half-million dollars in sales.

A post on the Carbon County Fair’s Facebook page reads, “Not only did our buyers show up in force to support our kids, this entire county came together to show their love and support for a little girl in Carbon County who lost her mom prior to the sale.”

The story Bigfoot 99 learned was that Ella Humphrey’s friends offered to sell her pig for her, but she came herself. Prior to the sale, three donors bought and donated back her pig, then three more donors bought it and brought it back during the sale. In all, her pig generated $21,332.50 as a wave of love and support swept over the crowd.

“There wasn’t a dry eye in the house,” the Facebook post states.

Another pig went for more than $11,000. In all, the sale topped $521,000, making it one of the largest in the state, fair officials say.
