Carbon County is preparing for Halloween. Bigfoot99 has compiled a list of town-sponsored Halloween activities.

In Saratoga, the Middle High School Students are putting together a haunted house in the Platte Valley Community Center gymnasium. High schooler Emily Gonzales is heading the school’s Halloween event. Gonzales explained some of the activities the school will offer.

Family and Consumer Science Teacher Briana Williams said the haunted house won’t have a single cohesive theme. Williams said the students will use their knowledge of design to develop their own ideas for each of the 20 rooms in the haunted house.

Gonzales said her room will be themed after a spooky carnival.

The Saratoga Middle High School’s Halloween event is Saturday, October 28th. Festivities begin at 5:30 pm. The haunted house will open around 7:00 pm. Admission to the haunted house is $4 a person.

In Hanna, Recreation Director Kim Coonley said she is hosting a parade, a Trunk-or-Treat, and a haunted house on Halloween. Coonley said a spooky dinner will also be served.

Coonley said the Boys and Girls Club of Carbon County will also sell their own hotdog dinner during the Halloween event.

The Hanna Recreation Center’s haunted house will also be themed after a spooky carnival. Coonley described some of the terrifying carnies kids will encounter during their trip through the haunted circus.

The parade begins at 3:00pm on Tuesday, October 31st, at the Hanna town hall. The route ends in the rec center parking lot where the Trunk-or-Treat will begin.

Coonley said to contact her at the Hanna Recreation Center to participate in the Halloween parade, Trunk-or-Treat, or to donate to the event. The rec center’s phone number is 325-9402.

The town of Medicine Bow is also hosting a haunted house. During Monday’s Medicine Bow town council meeting, Recreation Board member Jacqueline George said the town has two Halloween events planned.

George said both parties will be held in the Medicine Bow Community Center.

Councilman Justin George created a Facebook post seeking volunteers to perform at the haunted house. Councilman George asked anyone interested in taking part in the October 27th event to comment on the post or come to the next recreation board meeting on October 17th.

The Medicine Bow Halloween party for younger kids will be held on the evening of Thursday, October 26th, upstairs in the community center. The following night, Friday, October 27th, town’s haunted house from 7:00 to 11:00 pm.

Encampment, Riverside, Baggs, and Dixon are not sponsoring any Halloween events. While Elk Mountain also won’t have a town-sponsored event, the town is hosting a pumpkin patch fundraiser on Monday, October 23rd. For more information, call the Elk Mountain town hall at 348-7388.

On Friday, October 27th, and Saturday, October 28th, the town of Sinclair will be putting on a haunted house. Also themed after a spooky carnival, the event runs from 7:00 to 9:00 pm both nights. On Halloween night, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, the town will hold more haunted house tours, as well as a Halloween carnival with games and prizes.
