Wyoming quarterback Andrew Peasley has been on the minds of Air Force players and coaches the past week. Falcons Head Coach Troy Calhoun had Peasley on his mind from the opening question at this week’s news conference in Colorado Springs.

Peasley enjoyed maybe his best first half of play this year in last week’s win over Fresno State. The Cowboys were up 24-7 going into the half. The Cowboys would not score again during the second half, but they put enough points on the board to win and improve to 2-0 in conference play. Peasley posted 183 yards with three scores. Treyton Welch was Wyoming’s leading receiver on 74 yards and a TD off six catches. Running back Harrison Waylee added 83 rushing yards.

The Cowboy defense has held their own this season against powerful offenses. Wyoming opened with wins over Texas Tech 35-33 and Portland State 31-17. The defense held Texas to a tie through three quarters in Austin before the Longhorns unleashed in the fourth quarter for a 31-10 win.

The next week, Wyoming opened Mountain West play with a 35-26 win over New Mexico.

Coach Calhoun gave props to the Wyoming defense in their role in securing wins in challenging games this season.

The Falcons come into this week’s game 5-and-0. Two of the games were give me’s. Pittsburgh business college Robert Morris forgot their uniforms and were set to wear the Falcons practice jerseys before theirs arrived by special delivery shortly before kickoff. The Falcons have put up impressive wins over conference opponents Utah State, San Jose State and San Diego State.

Las Vegas oddsmakers have not shown Wyoming much love this week. Perhaps off their radar is that Peasley has two wins against Air Force in his career, one with Wyoming and one with Utah State. Coach Calhoun couldn’t name another.

The year was 2021. Peasley played most of the second half, going 10-of-15 for 195 yards and three touchdowns, including a 72-yarder to senior wide receiver Deven Thompkins that pulled Utah State to within 45-40 with 9:51 remaining in the game.

Kickoff is set for Saturday at 5. The game will be broadcast here on Bigfoot 99 with the pregame show at 3:30.
