The Hanna Senior Center manager has arranged a hazard preparedness meeting to inform residents about the services available during emergencies.

Following last winter’s higher-than-average snowfall, Hanna Senior Center Manager Debbie Schasteen took it upon herself to put together a community hazard preparedness event. On September 21st, Schasteen and first responders from across Carbon County will hold an all-hazards preparedness meeting at the Hanna Recreation Center. Schasteen said Hanna residents should be aware of the types of local and county emergency services available.

Schasteen said many Hanna residents are unaware of the hard work done by the town’s public works department, led by Larry Korkow, to keep the streets clear of snow. The senior center manager said the Hanna Fire Department and SCWEMS are also unsung heroes.

Schasteen added that the Medicine Bow Marshal’s Office, Carbon County Emergency Management, and the Sheriff’s Office are also unsung heroes. The senior center manager said all of Carbon County’s first responders are the best of the best and people need to know it.

To spread the word of the services available to Hanna residents, Schasteen said she’s teamed up with County Emergency Manager Lenny Layman, Medicine Bow Marshal Roger Hawks, and the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office. Schasteen also said the Hanna Senior Center staff will serve chili during the informational meeting.

Schasteen said the Hanna Community Preparedness meeting will show residents that they don’t need to worry about calling for help. The senior center manager said the county’s first responders are there for you when you need assistance.

The Hanna Community All Hazard Preparedness meeting is Thursday, September 21st, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Hanna Recreation Center. The Hanna Senior Center will serve chili during the event. The meeting is free to attend.
