In Rawlins, repeated incidents of vandalism at the public restrooms at Bolten Park have prompted city officials to close the facility temporarily. To catch the culprits, the city will install cameras before bathrooms are reopened to the public.
During the June 17th Rawlins City Council meeting, Councilman Derek Elliott reported that his Ward One constituents have complained that the public restrooms at Bolten Park were inaccessible. However, Councilman Elliott acknowledged that the restrooms had been reopened by the time of the meeting.
Bolten Park is located at 110 East Davis Street on the city’s south side. The park features two pavilions which can be reserved by the public, playground equipment with a basketball court, and public restrooms. The bathrooms have been a recent focus of maintenance and security concerns.
City Manager Tom Sarvey explained that the restrooms were locked following repeated efforts by vandals to damage the toilets and sewer system.
