Next weekend, the Little Snake River Museum will hold a community barbecue with music and games.

On Sunday, September 10th, the Little Snake River Museum in Savery will provide free food and fun activities for the community. Little Snake River Valley Education Center Community Engagement Coordinator Roberta Corson said the museum hosts the event every fall. Corson said a variety of activities will be offered during the barbecue.

Music will be provided by Sam Platts and the Plainsmen. Platts, a southern Wyoming native, will play his signature style of western-swing music with his wife and bandmates from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.

Corson said next Sunday’s event won’t feature your typical barbecue food. Instead of hamburgers and hotdogs, Corson said attendees will have their choice of delicious smoked meats to eat.

Corson said local donors supply the food served during the barbecue. The community engagement coordinator also said young people from 4H and FFA volunteer to help with the event.

Next Sunday’s barbecue will also feature a cornhole tournament at 10:00 am. Corson said she doesn’t know if a prize will be awarded to the winners since an outside organization is providing the games and entertainment.

With a wide variety of activities, Corson said the barbecue is an all-day affair.

The Little Snake River Museum Barbecue and Funday is next Sunday, September 10th, in Savery. Everything is free. Corson said it’s a great time to socialize, visit with the community, and eat good food. If you would like to help with the event or make a donation, call 380-3094 or visit the Little Snake River Education Center at 360 Whippoorwill in Baggs.
