Rawlins Middle School teachers are organizing a benefit dinner to assist a colleague who tragically lost a child.

On Monday, March 4th, the Rawlins Middle School is hosting a potluck dinner to support the Bixler family.

Twenty-five-year-old Elisabeth Nadine Bixler passed away unexpectedly on February 18th following a powerful seizure. Liz, as she was better known, suffered from seizures her entire life.

Rawlins Middle School Special Education Teacher Tera Voss said Bixler didn’t let her disability stop her from enjoying sports and activities. Voss said the young woman made an impression on everyone around her.

Liz’s mother, Tina Bixler, also works at the Rawlins Middle School as a special education teacher. Voss said she felt compelled to support her long-time friend and her family.

Fellow Rawlins Middle School Special Education Teacher Marissa Lucero said she and Voss decided that a benefit dinner was the best way to help the Bixler family. Lucero said Carbon County School District Number One staff are providing soups, chilis, and salads. The special education teacher said local eateries will also be serving a variety of dishes during the benefit dinner.

All proceeds from the benefit dinner will go to the Bixler family.

Tina Bixler said her daughter Liz was well known for her artistic talents, laughter, and love of tacos.

The Bixler Benefit Dinner is Monday, March 4th, at the Rawlins Middle School. Dinner will be served at 5:30pm. Organizers are asking for a minimum donation of $10 for individuals and $20 for families. No reservations are required.
