A Colorado-based film production company will hold a screening of an outdoor sports movie in Saratoga.

The Saratoga recreation department will sponsor a free family-friendly documentary focused on outdoor sports in the Platte Valley Community Center on March 8th.

During the January 16th Saratoga town council meeting, Recreation Department Director Kim Hemenway asked the council to approve a $1,300 invoice to Mountain Film on Tour. Hemenway explained that the movie production company will provide the town with a short film about outdoor activities.

Hemenway said the free screening will take place on the evening of Friday, March 8th. The recreation director said she hopes the short film will encourage people to take part in more outdoor pursuits.

Hemenway said the $1,300 invoice covers the cost of the film and Mountain Film on Tour’s promotional items.

Councilwoman Kathy Beck said the town’s recreation commission approved of Hemenway’s suggestion to screen the outdoor-themed documentary. Councilwoman Beck said the free movie event is appropriate for all ages.

Councilwoman Beck moved to approve the $1,300 invoice to Mountain Film on Tour. Councilman Mike Cooley seconded and the motion passed.
