Tuesday evening the Saratoga Town Council approved John Zeiger’s sudden resignation as mayor. The vacancy leaves a political stalemate in place until the new council is sworn in next January.

Last night, the remaining council could not even reach a consensus on a motion to adjourn the meeting.

The discussion that followed became heated as council members tried to resolve how and when to fill the empty mayor’s seat. Emma Diercks has the story.
