The Carbon County Republican party regulars met Thursday to choose three candidates to replace Byron Barkhurst, who quit his position on the county board of commissioners last month.

The Republican party regulars threw their overwhelming support behind one of their own. Joe Correnti proved the top vote getter in the first round of voting.

The second round of voting produced no winner. The last two rounds saw Emilee Berger and Garrett Irene receiving the most votes although both admitted they did not know the answers to the questions that the party posed to them.

The names of Correnti, Berger, and Irene will be forwarded from the party regulars to the county commissioners who will choose one to fill the vacant seat.
