Tragedy has struck the University of Wyoming track team.
Discus and shot put thrower Nathan Reid, who would have been junior this year, died in a car accident on U.S. Highway 18/20 near Orin Junction just south of Douglas.
Reid, who was majoring in mechanical engineering, was found at the site of the car crash early on Monday morning, July 24.
Details were scarce on Tuesday. The Wyoming Highway Patrol said the incident appears to be a single-car crash.
Reid’s vehicle was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 18/20 about five miles east of I-25 near Orin Junction. The exact time of the accident has not yet been determined. Road construction workers discovered the accident early on the morning of Monday, July 24.
