The town of Sinclair is hosting a large Arts and Music Festival.

Sinclair is putting on its first multi-day festival in recent memory. Arts and crafts, food, and live entertainment will be provided during the third weekend of August. The event is free to attend.

Sinclair Community Events Director Monte Thayer said he was inspired to hold a large-scale festival after last year’s outdoor music event in town. Thayer said the third weekend of August is what he hopes will be the first in a series of yearly summer events.

The two-day event begins on Friday, August 18th, with a quilt and art show from 3:00 to 5:30pm. Thayer said food and drink vendors will open after the arts and crafts shows. One hour later, Thayer said the first of two bands will take the stage.

Thayer said the next day, Saturday, August 19th, the quilt and art shows will happen again. The community events director said a flea market will be set up across the street from the old Parco Inn, at Washington Park.

Thayer said each vendor space at the flea market costs $10. He said to add $5 if the vendor wants electricity. The community events director said he has plenty of open space available, but vendors will be required to provide their own tables.

Thayer said Saturday afternoon is full of live entertainment. He mentioned the four bands and dance troupes scheduled to perform that day.

Thayer thanked the various people and organizations who helped put on the summer festival. He said everyone involved is eagerly anticipating the event.

Thayer said he could fit more live acts into the event schedule. He asked people interested in performing during the festival to contact him.

Thayer said the 2023 Summer Art and Music Festival is a precursor to next year’s celebration. He said 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of the town of Sinclair. Thayer said next year’s festival will be much larger.

Thayer also said at next year’s 100th anniversary, the emergency helicopter transport service, Classic Air Medical, will be on hand to fly people around the town, weather permitting.

The Sinclair community events director said planning for next year’s centennial celebration has already begun. Thayer said H.F. Sinclair is putting up most of the funds needed to ensure that next year’s festival is a once in a lifetime event. He said his job is to drum up volunteers.

Thayer said H.F Sinclair is expecting around 4,000 people to attend next year’s 100th anniversary event. He said in a town of 350 people, finding space for the visitors will be difficult.

Thayer said the 2023 Sinclair Summer Art and Music Festival is free to attend. He recommended that people plan to spend the entire day enjoying what the festival has to offer.

The 2023 Sinclair Summer Art and Music Festival is Friday and Saturday, August 18th and 19th at Washington Park and the surrounding area. Events begin at 3:00pm on Friday and continue until 9:15pm Saturday evening.
