The Hanna and Medicine Bow schools will hold back-to-school parades for students.

At 9:30am on Monday, August 21st, students of the Medicine Bow Elementary School will participate in a parade. The children will gather in the parking lot of the C-Spear Bar and Grill on Highway 30 and walk down Wyoming Street to the elementary school. Principal Jackie Jones said she is working with the Medicine Bow marshal and fire department and Sheriff Alex Bakken to make the parade a major event. Jones said she wants the students to feel special.

Hanna school children will also have a parade. At 12:00pm of the same day, August 21st, Hanna Elementary School students will be bussed to the Hanna town hall to begin their parade. Jones said Hanna-Elk Mountain-Medicine Bow School principal Eli Hobbs has agreed to allow the junior and senior high school students to participate as well.

Jones said Classic Air Medical may fly a helicopter over the parading children. The school principal said the elementary school students will head north into town while the older kids return to the HEM school.

Jones said she is trying to make both parades as exciting as possible for the children. The school principal said the parade is a way for the community to show their support for the next generation.

Jones said she appreciates what the area’s first responders do for the children of Hanna and Medicine Bow. The principal said the parades will culminate with a group photograph of everyone involved in the events.

Jones said the parades could not happen without her staff. The principal said school employees are working to make sure the parades are as special as possible for the students.

Jones said Medicine Bow children will receive bags of candy to toss while walking and Hanna staff and students will have a cook-out before the parade begins.

Both parades will take place on Monday, August 21st. The Medicine Bow Elementary School parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the C-Spear Bar and Grill. The Hanna student parades start at noon from the Hanna town hall at 301 Adams Street. Jones encouraged everyone to attend and make the events memorable for the children.
