On the floor of the U.S. Senate on Thursday, Wyoming’s senior Senator and the Majority Whip in the upper chamber went after liberal New York Senator Chuck Schumer and the minority Democrats for working to weaken the American healthcare system.

In his usual style, Senator Barrasso’s critique was sharply pointed on an issue he is well-versed on as a doctor: Medical care in a rural setting.

Senator Barrasso concluded saying that Democrats would make the healthcare system weaker for Americans who need it the most.

Senator Schumer’s attack on the rural health care plan in the “One Big Beautiful Bill” is part of a bundle of strategies to be released in September.

The Democrat strategy could be tested next month as politicians work to avert a government shutdown on September 30th. President Donald Trump has signaled that he does not want a shutdown, opening a path to some bipartisan negotiations. House Republicans have taken a harder line to any deal making on spending levels and policy riders.
