Wyoming Senator John Barrasso intervened Wednesday when Senate Majority Leader suffered some kind of medical issue while speaking at a podium at the Capitol.

After speaking for only a few moments, Sen. Mitch McConnell appeared to suffer some sort of medical issue. Sen. Barrasso stepped in and asked the majority leader off-microphone if he was okay.

McConnell appeared confused as Barrasso asked whether the majority leader had anything else to say.

At that point, McConnell turned and walked to the side of the podium, guided by Senators Thune and Barrasso with their hands on his arms.

McConnell slowly walked back to his office with an aide and Wyoming Senator John Barrasso, a former orthopedic surgeon who is the No. 3 Republican in the Senate. McConnell later returned to the press conference and answered questions from the press. He did not elaborate on the episode.

McConnell, 81, was out of the Senate for almost six weeks earlier this year after falling and hitting his head. His office later said he suffered a concussion and fractured a rib.
